To celebrate surpassing a new Game Pass subscriptions milestone, the team was awarded this customer controller as a secret gift. In collaboration with POPeART, I got to art direct his designs with source inspiration based on some of my recycled visual inspiration that was repurposed for this project. Not often do we get to revive such concepts and turn it into something new.

Retracing steps
At the time I received this request, I was working on a modular pattern system to help XDS (Xbox Design System) test overlay elements for difficult to read color scenarios (i.e. contrast ratio testing for game art with text overlays)
Inspiration
These colorways didn’t quite fit the system design team’s testing needs. However since they were upvoted as a team favorite, they were an easy first choice to bring into this project.
POPeART who ran with the theme and after a few more iterations (and many easter eggs) later we arrived at the gallery below which is the final controller design
